Step 5: Pre Op Labs
September 27th, 2017
This morning both me and nice guy had our Pre Op final labs done up at University of Utah. My parents were there an hour before me because, well, they are early to everything :) So he was completely done with labs by the time I got there. But both nice guy and I had ending up having the same guy, Boris, drawing our blood. Boris was awesome, I'm grateful for friendly and funny medical personal... well I'm grateful for all medical professionals but it's always so nice to have someone so kind and lighthearted like Boris. I ended up having 14 vials of blood and my dad had like 12. We then both had to take another urine sample after.
While we were waiting for me to be called back we were sitting in the lobby and I was convinced I would test positive for something after sitting in the waiting room. So many very visibly sick people walking by and waiting around it just makes me feel kinda of nauseous being in hospitals.

As soon as the results are posted, I will add what exactly they tested for here.
Here is Boris, doing his thing! He said the most vials of blood he has taken from one person at one time was 40! It was for someone needing a heart transplant. I can't imagine 40.
Nice guy had to stick around and complete some other things like a Chest X-ray, EKG and then meet with the transplant team. After that, the next step is surgery on Tuesday! I call in on Monday afternoon to see what time surgery will be on Tuesday. I am having my mom ask them today during the transplant team meeting if they can video my surgery. How cool would that be to have? Let's hope they can video either my surgery or my dad's at least!
You are both awesome! I can't imagine 14 vials! So glad the surgery is still on! Prayers for you both!
